Last Friday night our grapplers competed in the Cascades Conference Finals.  As a team we finished in third place behind Manchester and Napoleon.  Overall it was a great evening of wrestling for our boys.  

Alex Gipson(103), Jorden Relyea(135) and Bowen Bradley(145) finished in 3rd place and Nick Roy(152) was runner up.  These young men all earned the distinction of being Honorable Mention in our Conference.

We had four Conference Champions on the evening as well.  

Corey Gamet (125) earned his first Cascade title as he breezed through the competition in his weight class.  

Julian Putnam (215) came in to the tournament seeded (projected) 5th and pulled off nail biting upsets over the 1st and 2nd seeds to earn his first Cascade Title! 

Brock Kuhn (285) also blew through the competition pinning his way through his bracket and becoming a 3X Cascade Conference Champion!  He is one of eight wrestlers to pull this off in our programs history.

Josh Rankin (130) won his 4th Cascade Conference Title becoming the first ever wrestler in Michigan Center history to pull this off!  His first title came four years ago when he upset a returning state champion from Addison in the finals and his last title came Friday when he avenged a loss to the #1 ranked 130 in Division 4 from Manchester winning the match by a decisive 7-1 score!!

All our boys have put in a tremendous amount of hard work so please commend and congratulate them if you see them in class or the hallways:-)

We make up our last Cascade Dual tonight at Vandy, wrestling begins at 6pm.  Our team district is this Thursday at Leslie HS with wrestling beginning at 6pm.  Finally our Individual District will be held at MCHS this Saturday in the Haynes Gym with wrestling beginning at 9am, wrestlers need to place in the top 4 at their weight in order to qualify for regionals.
